The judge investigating the ERE fraudulent payments allegedly made from the Junta de Andalucía, Mercedes Alaya, has found 887 cases of ‘help’ from Francisco Javier Guerrero for the friends of the Junta and the PSOE Socialists. Guerrero is the ex director of Employment in the Junta. The judge estimates 617 of the payments were employment related and 270 were direct payments granted fraudulently, with the connivance of others and in an unjust and arbitrary way. The anti-corruption prosecutor has said the amount of money destined illegally reached 933 million €. Companies belonging to the ex President of the Junta, Rodrígiez de la Borbolla received 9 million €. Mercedes Alaya sent Guerrero to prison on remand at 2,30am on Saturday after three days taking his statement, and making him the first of the 50 indicted in the case to be put in custody. He faces misuse of public funds, bribery, perversion of the course of justice, two counts of falsification of mercantile documents and another of an official document. The judge considers that his action was known about by Ex President Manuel Chaves, current President José Antonio Griñán, and Junta spokesperson Mar Moreno.
